UNDERSTANDING
US
Fasteners, Inc. began in 1947 under the name of Tempotool of Michigan.
In 1949, after recording losses for the first two years, Frank Deppe joined
the company, and Tempotool became Fasteners, Inc. Initially, Fasteners,
Inc. was restricted to only carrying the Ramset product line. After five
years of market establishment, Fasteners, Inc. was able to move past the
restrictions and carry other lines including Milwaukee, Bostitch, Tilden
and Valor. Along with continued growth came a continual expansion
of vendors and inventory. We now stock over 24,000 SKUs and have
affiliations with over 400 vendors.
As the markets and economy have changed through the years, Fasteners,
Inc. has been quick to adapt. In 2008, when the economy started to
decline, Fasteners, Inc. was experiencing 70 percent focus on residential
contracting. Understanding this could not be sustained, Fasteners, Inc.
regrouped and retrained to expand into the commercial, industrial and
manufacturing markets. Today, we continue to emphasize the importance
of training to ensure our sales and support teams are the most
knowledgeable in their profession. Demonstrating new and innovative
products at the jobsite, allows our
customers to see first-hand how
these advances save them time and
money. This sets us apart and adds
value to what we do.
At Fasteners, Inc., we are dedicated
to driving jobsite innovation
and providing the solutions our
customers need to get the job done.
John Szlenkier, President
To paraphrase Charles Dickens, Michigan is the best of states and the worst of states,
especially for business. It is lushly wooded, with nearly 20 million acres of forest,
2,150 miles of shoreline on the Great Lakes and almost 24,000 miles of inland shore.
“To understand my character and how I lead this company,
it helps you to know a bit about my personal history.”
—John Szlenkier
