HISTORY BASED ON SERVICE A Basin Fertilizer’s roots go back to the fall of 1975 when Bob Gasser and Chris Moudry, both in their twenties and fresh from college, left Valley Nitrogen Producers to open their new business in the heart of the Klamath Basin. Jim Shuck also joined as a partner after spending twenty years with Walker Ag in Merrill, Oregon. With youthful exuberance, great work ethics and a firm desire to provide excellent service to the Basin farm community—Gasser, Moudry and Shuck opened for business with two employees and a pull sprayer on one acre of land purchased from Chevron Oil. They also acquired two blue pickups and four orange anhydrous ammonia applicators—thus deciding the new company colors would be blue and orange. They built the business from the ground up. Within a few months, they had three employees and were up and running. It was a small start with only three or four main fertilizer products and a line of chemicals. Over the years, big changes have occurred, and there are more to come! Because our motto is “Service is our main product”, we must continue to be aggressive and progressive to always have products available to our grower base. To properly accommodate our customers, we are expanding our facility by adding two new rail sidings, a bigger dry fertilizer storage building and a larger shop. All this to take care of our growers needs, today and into the future. If our customers are committing to their future, we must also commit to their future.
