Pioneer Wholesale Meat was founded in 1945
by Harry Triumphful and Mickey Nagel in
Chicago’s historic Fulton Market District.
Bill Milligan Sr. began working at Pioneer in
1950 as a truck driver.With hard work and
determination, he became the general manager
and eventually bought Pioneer with his partner
Al Triumphful. In May of 1971, Bill Milligan Jr.
joined his father at Pioneer.Working tirelessly
together, Pioneer continued to grow.
After becoming the sole proprietor,
Bill Sr. incorporated the business in
1975 as Pioneer Wholesale Meat, Inc.
In the fall of 1987, Pioneer moved to
a new facility at 1000 West Carroll
Avenue. The company that once
exclusively sold veal expanded its
product line to include lamb and beef.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Casey
Milligan began working at Pioneer in
2007. The family tradition continued
when Peter Milligan and Kristy Milligan
joined the team.
Today, Pioneer Wholesale Meat remains
a proud, family-owned business with

VEAL
Our suppliers use humane and communal practices

Pioneer has relationships with the best pork producers
in North America. They utilize a comprehensive animal
care program to produce 100% all-natural pork.

Pioneer provides a diverse array of specialty items that
include: bacon, deli meats, sausages, brats, hot dogs,
sauces, demi-glaces, cured meats, cheeses, charcuterie
and premium game products.
