Board of Directors, 1978
Robert E. Mastandrea founded the Miami Valley Wholesale Drug Company in 1962
based in Dayton, Ohio. By the end of the first two weeks of business, the company
had $506 in sales. With the acquisition of A. G. Luken Drug Company out of
Richmond, Indiana, Miami-Luken was born in 1971.
Through a myriad of strategic acquisitions and the construction of a 60,000 square-
foot warehouse and corporate headquarters in 1991 in Springboro, Ohio, Miami-
Luken continued to improve on processes and invest in infrastructure.
The 1990s and 2000s saw the acquisitions of candy companies (adding a full line
of candy, gum, mints and seasonal products) and independent pharmacies (called
REM Smart Pharmacies).
Miami-Luken has built and maintained a successful organization that grows
through the sustained efforts of our principal asset—our employees.
